“This is our story:
Nine years ago, we met my new line manager at work and life was never going to be the same again. Not only was she a great boss who was excellent at her job, she became a wonderful friend to the Landing Ladies (as we are known!) at the school we work in. Her funny stories are legendary and howls of laughter were often heard coming from our offices as yet another hilarious anecdote was told.
Jackie also had a dream. A dream to retire early, move to her beloved Kefalonia, and spend her retirement with Martyn and enjoy a much more relaxed lifestyle. After only a year, she was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer and returned to the UK to undergo treatment. Thankfully she is now in remission and as her friends we wanted to show how much she means to us and how grateful we are that the work and support OPA give sufferers and their families and so we decided to try and raise some money so others can receive help from you too.
Along with my partner Pete we took on the challenge of the Southampton 10K but we have received huge support from all the staff at Amery Hill School in Alton who have eaten their way through mountains of cakes and taken part in our World Cup Sweepstake.
Cockney Rebels FC and Farnham and District over 60’s veterans football team held a charity game and raffle which raised over £650 and also helped raise awareness of the symptoms of the cancer to many who were unaware that it even existed.” – Natalie
