Part Two
Your stomach naturally curves off to the left-hand side. That means if you lie down on your right, your stomach ends up sitting above the valve, putting pressure on it, so if your valve is weak, the valve forces open and acid comes up. Studies show that sleeping on your left side can reduce the amount of acid reflux you get during the night, even more than sleeping sat upright! To help keep you on the left there’s a wearable device you can get called LEFT, but a cheaper hack is to get yourself a body pillow (you can find them online for under £20) to help keep you on one side! Try not to eat too close to bedtime, giving plenty time for food to be digested from the stomach – aim for at least three hours before hitting the hay.
