SORT Study
Surgery Or RadioTherapy for early-stage cancer
Summary
The SORT Study is looking at treatments for people with early-stage oesophageal, bladder and lung cancer. It is comparing whether radiotherapy or surgery produce better outcomes and do so at lower costs. The project is led by Professor Richard Grieve and Dr David Lugos-Palacios at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). It is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). You can find more information about the study on the SORT website and on the NIHR website.
The SORT Study team are now looking for people who:
- Have had surgery or radiotherapy for early-stage oesophageal cancer within the past year.
- Had cancer treatment in England.
- Are willing to take part in a 1 hour interview online, by phone or in person.
People who meet the criteria above are invited to share their experience of diagnosis and of choosing and having treatment for early-stage oesophageal cancer. The researchers want to gain a better understanding of how people with cancer experience the process of reaching treatment decisions. They want to use this understanding to improve the ways people with early-stage cancer receive information about treatment options and are supported by cancer services to make these decisions.
