November is Gastric Cancer Awareness Month, an opportunity to raise awareness of stomach cancer, recognise the symptoms and encourage people to seek medical advice when something doesn’t feel right.
Know the signs
Symptoms of gastric cancer can sometimes be mistaken for common digestive problems. They may include:
- Persistent indigestion or heartburn.
- Feeling full quickly when eating.
- Ongoing stomach pain or discomfort.
- Loss of appetite or unexplained weight loss.
- Feeling sick or vomiting.
- Difficulty swallowing or unusual tiredness.
These symptoms do not necessarily mean cancer, but if they persist, worsen or feel unusual, speak to your GP.
Help us spread the word
At OPA Cancer Charity, we provide free information and support for people affected by oesophageal and gastric cancers, as well as their families and carers.
This November, you can help by sharing reliable information, raising awareness of the symptoms and encouraging others not to ignore persistent changes in their health.
Help us spread the word this November! Order your free Gastric Cancer Awareness Month packs, including posters to display in GP surgeries, workplaces, community centres and other public spaces.
Together, we can raise awareness, encourage conversations and help more people recognise the signs of gastric cancer.
